In this group, there are various hybrids of the Vaccinium genus that are adapted to more temperate climates. As a result, they can withstand higher temperatures and require fewer chilling hours. These varieties are particularly suited for lower latitudes, where winter temperatures rarely drop below 7°C. Their main cultivation areas include the southern United States and Spain, northern Chile, and, more recently, parts of Africa and Central America.
These varieties are considered early-producing, with most of them having a fairly extended harvest period. They exhibit very early flowering and sprouting. The plants produce larger-sized fruit, making them ideal for the fresh market, where manual harvesting is the standard.
